Because where you live shouldn’t determine if you live.

Here's how your donation makes a difference

Marnie’s postcode made blood cancer harder.

Living in Wannon in regional Victoria, Marnie received a blood cancer diagnosis after 18 long months of enduring painful, distressing symptoms.

Marnie knew something was wrong when she experienced severely itchy skin – itchiness so bad that she had trouble sleeping. However, she struggled to get an accurate diagnosis, until eventually a doctor recognised her symptoms and sent for blood tests.

Marnie was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of blood cancer, one week before her 22nd birthday.

Thanks to the generosity of people like you,  Marnie didn’t have to face blood cancer alone. Having access to support groups and a trusted healthcare professional to talk to was immensely reassuring to Marnie. It gave Marnie the help she needed to navigate different stages her blood cancer journey – including when she began planning to return to work.

Your donation today can help give everyone, no matter where they live an equal chance of surviving blood cancer. Please donate today.

Right now in Australia, it’s a postcode lottery, but together we can end it.

Blood cancer is set to become the most devastating cancer in Australia.

We know that timely diagnosis and treatment can save lives. But the harsh reality is, where you live can have a massive impact on your blood cancer journey. And regional Australians are faring worse than city people – by a country mile.

Challenges facing regional Australians include:

  • Greater barriers to prompt and accurate diagnosis
  • Longer wait times and greater distances to travel for specialised care
  • Regional Australians are 17 times more likely to report locational and financial barriers to care than people living in cities

Please, support the Leukaemia Foundation today to provide vital support, accommodation and game-changing new programs that level the playing field for regional Australians.

Your support before June 30 can make a difference.

  • Safe, welcoming accommodation close to treatment, for families relocating for lifesaving care.
  • Highly tailored specialist care and emotional support delivered by health professionals
  • Online education and support services
  • Innovative programs like Regional Access to Care for Haematology (ReACH) that will promote earlier, accurate diagnosis and bring care closer to home for regional Australians
